Approved and Accredited Schools, Colleges & Online Courses in Interior Design and Decoration

C.I.D. ACCREDITED PROGRAMS

C.I.D. members must complete a Certificate (level) program directed to the professional INTERIOR DECORATOR and/or INTERIOR DECORATION through a school, college or direct learning facility that has been C.I.D. accredited. The program must be specific to and for the professional INTERIOR DECORATOR as opposed to courses for the INTERIOR DESIGNER and INTERIOR DESIGN. The C.I.D. recommended textbook for the program would be the “Elements of Interior Design and Decoration" by Sherrill Whitton and Stanley Abercrombie. Professional membership in C.I.D. is a final destination for individuals seeking credentials. C.I.D. accredited programs include the teachings in the Study Guide and also includes the C.I.D.Entrance Exam.

C.I.D. APPROVED PROGRAMS

Upon completion of a C.I.D. approved program, the graduate must then order the C.I.D. Study Guide and the C.I.D. Entrance Exam when applying for Professional Membership. Upon passing same, C.I.D. credentials will be issued which must be renewed annually to maintain certification. The Study Guide for the C.I.D. Entrance Exam contains copyrighted materials that may not be a part of any teaching program and must be administered by Certified Interior Decorators International exclusively. The original Entrance Exam is proctored and kept by Certified Interior Decorators International.

Acceptable educational programs must be updated or changed to reflect the changes made over the past ten years in the industry, especially since Certified Interior Decorators International, developed the idea and concept to "CERTIFY" interior decorators.
